Repat Armenia hosted its fifth ‘’Ask Me: Live Q&A’’ event on March 20th starting at 8 pm (GMT+4). Our guest was Armen Orujyan, PHD, the Founding CEO of the FAST - Foundation for Armenian Science and Technology. Through a live feed, followers connected with him directly, asking questions in real time about splitting his time between Armenia and the rest of the world.

FAST is a nonprofit organization reinforcing Intellectual, Financial, and Network capacities of science and technology ecosystem in Armenia, and beyond. Focused on producing an ecosystem that drives scientific advancement and technological innovation, under Armen’s leadership, FAST has launched a Fellowship for the top 10% of all PhDs in Armenia in STEM, deployed numerous scientific grants, startup studio, advanced solutions center, organised inaugural global innovation forum and established the first Science and Technology Angels Network in Armenia.

If that was not enough, Armen is also the founder and former Chairman of Athgo Corporation, one of the world’s leading entrepreneurship platforms in consultative status with the UN Economic and Social Council, UN Department of Public Information, and the World Intellectual Property Organization. Athgo has advanced innovation ecosystems in Europe and Africa, and established recurring Global Innovation Forums at the UN and the World Bank headquarters. Armen’s pioneering initiatives have provided financial, intellectual, and network capacities to nearly 10,000 young innovators, entrepreneurs, and students from over 600 universities in 80 countries. His contributions have been huge on a global level, and that is not being funneled into Armenia through grassroots initiatives and investment.

Armen earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Los Angeles, and his master’s degree and PhD from Claremont Graduate University. Additionally, he joined the UN’s Global Alliance for ICT and Development as a founding member from 2006 until 2013. He has held positions as an advisor at Facebook and on US presidential and other political campaigns, was named a UN e-leader for ICT and Youth, and has served on the UN’s Broadband Commission for Digital Development.
