BostonGene Corporation is pioneering biomedical software for advanced patient analysis and personalized therapy decision-making in the fight against cancer.
We're seeking a Team Lead for a Bioinformatics software developer group to join our Bioinformatics pipelines clinical integration division in the Molecular Oncology sector.
The group is focused on automating and streamlining the analysis of NGS laboratory data. This role will focus on developing and maintaining the NGS bioinformatics pipeline in the form of CWL workflows consisting of Dockerized microservices written mostly in Python running on AWS instances.
 
 
Responsibilities:
  • Technical leadership of a team of Bioinformatics software developers.
  • Communicate with inside scientific teams as well as product and bioinformatics leadership.
  • Maintenance of existing code base, and planning of performance optimization.
  • Design scalable, maintainable, and well-tested commercial-grade software for the automation and support of pipeline verification.
  • Lead identification of areas for process improvements.
  • Maintain written policies/procedures and records of Bioinformatics Pipeline Software for CLIA/CAP compliance.
 
 
Requirements:
  • A bachelor's (or higher) degree in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • 3+ years of commercial Python development experience.
  • Understanding of NGS molecular process from library preparation to base calling, experience in transcriptomics and/or genomics data processing.
  • Experience working with large data sets or next-generation sequencing data is required.
  • Experience working with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization (Docker, Singularity, Kubernetes) is preferred.
  • Conversational level of English and Russian languages.
  • Attention to detail, time management, and analytical thinking.
 
 
Nice to Have:
  • Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK stack.
  • Experience with R programming language and/or Python modules for NGS data processing (pysam, pyfastx, etc.).
